HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

Little Prince School began in 2000 as a remedial center with seven children and one teacher, hosted in two classrooms within a school run by the Catholic Brothers of St. Charles Lwanga in Gatwekera, Kibera. By the end of the year, the remedial classes had grown to 25 children. Towards the end of 2000, the Catholic NGO, International Service Volunteers Association (AVSI), provided support to establish a formal school. Education was initially free, with symbolic parental contributions.
Relocation
The school operated in Gatwekera village for three years before relocating to a new site, where a mabati structure was constructed to accommodate the growing number of learners.

Upgrade to Permanent Structures
In 2007, the school moved to a permanent building with eight classrooms, a library, staffroom, theatre, dining hall, kitchen, and administrative offices. The pre-school section remained in temporary structures until 2010, when a permanent block was inaugurated by the Apostolic Nuncio, Alain P. Lebeaupin.
The school now operates from well-structured facilities supporting a comprehensive learning environment:
Main Building
Administrative offices, playgroup and pre-primary classrooms, grades 1 to 6, staffroom, theatre hall, dining hall, and kitchen.
Junior Secondary School Block
Grades 7 to 9, science laboratory, computer laboratory, and music laboratory.
Classrooms
One stream per grade, accommodating current enrolment of 400 learners with roughly equal gender distribution.
ICT Laboratory
14 computers serving 3–4 students per machine. Proposal includes upgrading to 25 computers to allow two students per machine for better practical learning.
These facilities provide a safe, organized, and conducive environment for teaching and learning, enabling holistic education for all learners.
OUR IMPACT
Over the years, Little Prince Primary School has continued to grow through education, community support, and meaningful impact in the lives of learners and families.
